Cullinan Tourist Attractions and Things To Do
In the early 1900's, the small town of Cullinan gained instant world-wide fame and recognition upon the advent of the discovery of diamonds.
In 1902, Sir Thomas Cullinan discovered a rich diamond pipe in Cullinan, and afterwards, on 25 June 1905, the famed Cullinan Diamond was discovered by the then surface manager of the Premier Diamond Mining Company. The Cullinan Diamond was the largest rough diamond ever found in the world, weighing in at a staggering 3,106 carats (621 gram)
Today, the Cullinan Big Hole is four times larger than that of the Big Hole in Kimberley, and contributes towards more than 25% of the world's gem-quality diamond output.
Cullinan is still a small town today, but offers much for tourists to enjoy.
